Common Concerns About Pregnancy Photography (and how to address them)
Pregnancy is a unique and beautiful time, but many expecting mothers have reservations about being photographed during this period. Which I totally understand - i’ve been there! But as your photographer I promise to put you at ease as best as I can.
“I Don’t Feel Photogenic or Comfortable in Front of the Camera”
Pregnancy can bring physical and emotional changes that make some women feel less confident about their appearance. The idea of posing for photos may feel daunting. My shoots are all about embracing your natural beauty and helping you to feel empowered.
Choose outfits that make you feel comfortable and confident, whether it’s a flowing gown, a fitted dress, or casual wear.
“I’m Unsure About the Timing for a Maternity Shoot”
Many mothers-to-be worry they’ll schedule their session too early or too late in the pregnancy. The ideal time for a maternity shoot is between 28 and 36 weeks. At this stage, your baby bump is typically well-defined, but you’re still comfortable enough to pose and move around. Planning ahead and discussing your due date will help you find the perfect timing.
“I Don’t Know What to Wear”
Choosing the right attire for a photoshoot can feel overwhelming. You want to look beautiful while ensuring comfort. Let your bump and your natural glow be the main focus. Less is more and ensure your images are timeless. Neutrals tend to suit the earthy environment the most but these are your special images so whatever you feel best in, is perfection.
“I’m Worried the Photos Will Look Overly Posed or Unnatural”
Many women often fear that their photos will come out looking stiff or staged.
Candid shots are my forte! I will prompt you to interact naturally with your partner or simply place a hand on your belly and smile, ensuring your photos capture genuine emotion. Lifestyle photography, which is less posed and more relaxed, is always a great option for those who want a natural feel.
5. “I’m Concerned About Costs”
Professional photography can be an investment, and some expectant parents worry about the cost.
